چکیده
Aim: To assess the response of clinicians and patient towards various imaging modalities used in diagnostic evaluation of dental implant therapy. Materials and Methods: 200 clinicians with more than 5 years of experience in implant dentistry were selected in study. Every clinician was requested to judge accessibility, maneuverability, accuracy, reproducibility, reliability, ease of understanding of target anatomy, ease of imaging documentation and ability to increase dental awareness through provided questionnaire, for each imaging modality. 70 patients seeking dental implant therapy were assigned into 7 different groupIOPA (n=10), OPG (n=10), Lat. Ceph (n=10), conventional CT (n=10) and Spiral CT (n=`10), CBCT (n=10) and ICGI (n=10). Patients were advised to undergo radiographic imaging procedure specific to respective group. Results: The clinicians in highly preferred the crosssectional imaging over conventional radiographic imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning of implant. Among cross-sectional imaging, preference was greater for CBCT, ICGI and Spiral CT scan than conventional CT scan. Patient responded and tolerated the procedure very well for the cross sectional imaging than conventional radiographic imaging modalities. However, expense and accessibility were the only negative factor for crosssectional imaging. Conclusion: The clinician and patient response for cone beam Computed tomography either individually or associated with Interactive computer guided implantology, and Spiral CT scan were magnificent over conventional radiography for treatment planning of dental implant.

Evaluation of prevalence and pattern of maxillary sinus mucosal thickening in cone beam computed tomography of dental implant candidates in Shiraz, Iran
BACKGROUND AND AIM: This study aimed to assess maxillary sinus floor membrane thickness and ostium patency (OP) in patients undergoing cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) evaluation for implant placement in the posterior maxilla. Mucosal thickening (MT) could be cause of post-operative complications in implant procedures; awareness of this incidence could help proper detection and further succ...

Introdouction: Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a relatively new three-dimensional imaging technology, which has been widely used in dental and maxillofacial imaging. Materials and methods: CBCT scans of 506 maxillary sinuses of 253 individuals (39.9% male and 60.1% female) were evaluated retrospectively for assessing the relationship between sinus mucosal thickening (MT) and dental a...

Introduction: A CBCT system (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) is a new method in the application of radiography in dental science that provides three-dimensional data of the hard and soft tissue, without magnification or distotion. Information obtained via this diagnostic imaging can be utilized in treatment planning. Methods: In this retrospective descriptive study, the CBCT prescription of all...
متن کاملAssessment of Neurosensory Changes and their Correlation with the Distance between Dental Implants and the Inferior Alveolar Nerve after Implantation
Background and aim: Neurosensory disorders after implant insertion are one of the main concerns in implant treatments. Neurosensory disorders can be driven by different factors including the contact of the implant with the nerve, pressure of edema, hematoma, scar, or dental injections. This study aimed at investigating the distance between the implant and the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and i...

Aim: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate imaging artifacts induced by Titanium, Zirconium, Titanium-Zirconium abutments in CT, MRI and CBCT imaging modalities. Methods: A 4×8mm titanium fixture was inserted in a dry human mandible. Titanium, Zirconium and Titanium–Zirconium abutments measuring 10.5 mm in height are located on the fixture, one by one. Each abutment was scan...
